Parallab 350™
The Life Sciences Group of Brooks Automation, Inc. has developed
a fully automated, integrated platform to perform nanoliter volume
cycle sequencing, PCR, SNP and genotyping reactions. The Parallab
350™ is comprised of a unique combination of technologies,
all working together to deliver high levels of throughput, precision,
flexibility and previously unrealized cost efficiency.
The bench top Parallab 350™ aspirates small and accurate
reagent volumes, performs the thermal cycling, and subsequently
completes all of the purification steps within the proprietary Nano-Pipetter
which is comprised of 96 miniature glass tubes working simultaneously. Each
reagent is aspirated into the tubes, mixed, thermal cycled and purified
before finally being dispensed into an output plate for analysis. After
each sample set is completed, the Nano-Pipetter is cleaned and reused,
greatly reducing the amount and cost of consumables normally associated
with conventional processing methods.
Depending on the protocol and application, the Parallab 350™
has a throughput of approximately 1600 samples per 24-hour
day. Because the Parallab 350™ is designed for unattended
operation, simply set-up the system, press go and walk away. This
bench top system has flexible hardware and software platforms to
allow each 96-sample payload to run with a different protocol.
The Parallab 350™’s unique combination of nanoliter
reaction volumes, reduced consumables and complete automation, make
it ideal for core labs, as well as high throughput laboratories
seeking to lower their costs without compromising data quality.
